Abu Mamun, based in Toronto, Canada, recently returned from Tokyo, Japan, where he participated in the group exhibition Art Bridge Tokyo. Born in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, Mamun earned his BFA from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. He later obtained a second BFA and an MFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing. During his years in Beijing and New York, Mamun developed objective and subjective compositions through printmaking, oil painting, and watercolor. His work draws on outdoor experiences, personal memories, and the rural landscapes of his homeland. 1986 Mamun participated in the American Museum of Natural History’s art festival, “Celebrate India: Rebirth of a Nation,” commemorating the 50th anniversary of India’s independence. |
